Frequently asked questions

What is Bomba Tango Weekend?
Bomba Tango Weekend is a marathon-style tango gathering created in partnership with Adolfo, Elaine, and Ramada. This weekend brings dancers from near and far together to enjoy a smooth, comfortable ronda in an intimate setting. Because space is limited and we aim for a balanced and comfortable dance floor, participation is managed through a request-of-interest process. Submitting a request does not guarantee attendance, as confirmations depend on availability, role balance, and maintaining a mix of local and traveling dancers.

Where is the venue for Bomba?
The event takes place at the Verdi Club located at 2424 Mariposa Street in San Francisco. It is a historic Art Deco dance venue with an excellent floor, great sound, and easy public transit access.

Do I need to submit a request of interest to attend?
Yes. Because of space and balance limitations, submitting a request of interest is required. It helps us manage turnout and ensure a smooth dancing experience.

Does submitting a request guarantee I get in?
No. The request is just the first step. Final attendance is confirmed after we review all requests to ensure floor balance and availability.

Is the event role-balanced?
Yes. We aim to keep the event role-balanced to create a smooth experience for everyone. Admission may be adjusted to maintain an equitable leader-follower ratio.

Will it be possible to register for specific milongas or a single day
No. Registration is only offered as a full-event pass.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds are available before Dec 26, minus a $25 processing fee. Contact the hosts for transfer requests.

Is there parking at the venue?
Street parking is available around Mariposa Street, Potrero Avenue, and Hampshire Street. As in any major city, keep your belongings out of site. Ride-share is also highly recommended.

What are the closest hotels?
We recommend six hotels within a short drive or quick transit ride from the venue, including BEI Hotel, Parc 55 Hilton, InterContinental SF, Hotel VIA, Hotel Zelos, and Hyatt Place Downtown. See our Lodging section for full details.

How do I get to the event using public transportation?
Take Muni lines 9, 33, or 90 to the stop Potrero Ave and Mariposa Street. From there, it is a 2 minute walk to the venue entrance.

What airports should I fly into?
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is the closest major airport. Oakland International Airport (OAK) is a great alternative and often has lower fares.

What should I pack?
Aside from what you need to set the dance floor on fire, San Francisco is famous for its cool, unpredictable weather. Be sure to bring a warm jacket and a cozy scarf to stay comfortable in the city.

Will there be food or drinks available?
Light snacks will be available with a community brunch and dinner on selected days on the event schedule page. Guests are welcome to bring water bottles.
